1970

Company founded as Knight & Morris (Services) Ltd by Sir Gerald Glover and Ronald Knight near River Thames, London.

1972

National Dock Strike accelerates shift to containerization; company pivots toward inland container loading.

1973

Acquisition of Stephenson & Ephgrave Ltd introduces airfreight services and expands international operations.

1980

Company focuses on ocean and air freight forwarding, phasing out traditional warehousing and barging.

2000

Expansion into global markets with offices in Shanghai and India.

2005

Launch of global freight tracking systems and investment in purpose-built warehousing with 24-hour CCTV. 2010: Built a 15,000 sq. ft. transit warehouse and expanded to 14 UK offices, strengthening road freight network.

2015

Achieved Civil Aviation Authority regulated agent status and AEO accreditation for supply chain security.

David Carpentier

IT Director

David joined Trans Global Air Ltd in 1997 as a Computer Technician and has played a central role in the development of the company’s IT systems and technology infrastructure for nearly three decades. Just a year after joining the business, he was promoted to IT Manager, taking responsibility for the systems and technology supporting the company’s growing operations.

Originally from Reims, France, David studied Statistics and Data Analysis before moving to England to continue his education at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, where he achieved a BA in Business Decision Analysis.

Throughout his career with Trans Global Air, David has been instrumental in developing and advancing the company’s IT and communications capabilities, ensuring its systems have continued to evolve alongside the needs of the business and its customers. In recognition of his expertise, long-standing contribution and commitment to the company, he was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2017 as IT and Communications Director.

As a Director, David continues to oversee the company’s technology and communications strategy, with a focus on developing secure, reliable and effective systems that support the business, its people and the high standards of service provided to customers.

Paul Mercer

Finance Director

Paul Mercer is Finance Director at Trans Global Freight Management Ltd, responsible for thecorganisation’s financial strategy, planning, reporting, and governance. With over 20 years of experience in the freight and transport industries, he brings a commercially focused approach to financial leadership, helping the business make informed decisions and achieve sustainable growth.

Before joining Trans Global, Paul held senior finance roles where he led initiatives including fundraising, transformation, acquisitions, international expansion, and operational improvement.

Paul is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and is passionate about combining rigorous financial management with practical business insight.

Ricardo Zinelli

Head of Sales

With nearly 30 years of experience in international freight forwarding and logistics, Ricardo has built his career around developing strong customer relationships, expanding global networks, and delivering effective supply chain solutions.

Ricardo began his logistics career in 1996, specialising in international road freight across South America, covering Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on International Trade and relocated to the UK in 2003 to further develop his international career.

After joining the UK freight forwarding industry in 2006, Ricardo progressed from Import Coordinator to Export Manager and UK Operations Manager, successfully managing logistics operations for the automotive and aerospace sectors.

In 2013, he completed a Master’s Degree in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Birkbeck, University of London, before joining Trans Global Freight Management later that year as Route Development Manager for South America. His responsibilities expanded to include USA route development in 2017 and Canada in 2022.

Since January 2025, Ricardo has held a Global Sales role, supporting customers across international markets through strategic business development and tailored logistics solutions.

Passionate about customer service and long-term partnerships, Ricardo is committed to helping businesses navigate complex global supply chains with confidence, reliability and a personal approach.

Lee Stevenson

UK Operations Director

Lee joined the company directly from school as an Air Export Clerk and has built his career through dedication, expertise, and a strong commitment to customer service. Over the years, he progressed through a variety of operational and management roles, ultimately becoming Export Manager.

In July 2017, Lee was appointed General Manager of the Heathrow airfreight operation, where he has been responsible for overseeing the continued growth and success of one of the company’s key divisions. In recognition of his leadership and contribution to the business, he was invited to join the Board of Directors in 2023.

As a Director, Lee remains focused on maintaining the company’s customer-first ethos, ensuring that exceptional service, operational excellence, and long-term client relationships remain at the heart of everything the business does.

Lee Leaper

Regional Director

Lee has been part of TransGlobal for 34 years, starting at a junior level and working his way up through the business to his current role as Regional Director.

That journey has given him an in-depth knowledge across all modes of freight, with a particular specialism in airfreight, as well as hands-on industry experience and a real understanding of how to find practical solutions for our customers.

What drives him is simple: putting customers first, keeping communication clear and always looking ahead so we can stay one step ahead, offer the right advice and deliver the personal service our customers rely on backed by great teams throughout TG.

For Lee, it’s about making sure we keep moving forward, supporting our customers and delivering a service they can trust every step of the way.

Simon Rawlinson

Managing Director

Simon Rawlinson has been a part of Trans Global Freight Management Ltd. since 1994, beginning his career in the European Road Freight Division at the company’s Manchester office. Over more than three decades with the business, he has held a number of key operational and leadership roles, gaining extensive experience across all aspects of freight forwarding and supply chain management.

In 2000, Simon re-opened and successfully established the Stoke-on-Trent branch as Branch Manager, developing it into a fully multimodal operation. He later moved to the Basildon office in 2009 to lead the company’s European Transport Division, where he was responsible for the continued growth and development of TGFM’s road freight services.

In 2012, Simon joined the company’s Head Office in Greenhithe to oversee Surface Freight Services as General Manager. His leadership and operational expertise led to his appointment as Operations Director, where he played a pivotal role in driving service excellence, business growth, and operational transformation across the organisation.

On 1 July 2026, Simon was appointed Managing Director of Trans Global Freight Management Ltd. Drawing on over 30 years of industry experience and an in-depth understanding of the business, he is focused on delivering sustainable growth, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring TGFM continues to provide innovative, reliable, and market-leading logistics solutions.
